navigating absurdity
  • Life is a rare, incidental cosmic event.
  • Meaning and value die with those who hold them.
  • God is dead, but we are the successive heirs.
  • When you die, 99.9% of people will forget you within two years. The remaining 1% will soon follow. Your footprint in history is minimal, a small wave in space-time.
  • Just as people have the right to life, they should have the right to choose not to live.
  • People go to great lengths to keep each other alive; why is discussing suicidal thoughts so controversial? Why is euthanasia so contentious? Many think life is worth all the effort, but we must realize it will all come to an end.
  • Life is the ultimate attachment.
  • People go to great lengths to kill each other.
  • There is no objective morality; get over it.
  • Belief is a self-delusion for some alternative reality.
  • Modern society has left behind traditional slavery only to become slaves to capitalist companies, addicted to information, glued to our screens for hours, guided by algorithms.
  • How will the 25th century look back on our time?
  • Humans are slaves to their biological desires like moths stuck flying circles around a light.
  • Most of our time is spent in vague trances and alternative mental realities.
  • Free will does not seem to have a strong case; why do we so badly want it?
  • Religious beliefs are delusions and longing for something that will never come or be. Tho we prefer not to call it out like that.
  • Awareness of unawareness can be a heavy burden.
  • Society, economy, politics, and climate are all uncontrollable beasts.
  • The amount of sentient suffering is the norm rather than the exception.
No one really knows why we are here, or what “here” and “we” even mean.
You are dying every second; it just takes time for death to arrive.

Well, so what now? Life is quite absurd, the cosmic theater that never ends, or not till the death it is, or well if the Oscillatory Universe is not the one we happen to live in. We of course will die, but! We live now. We may have no significance in the grand scheme of things, yet the manifestation of life is a mysterious and unique cosmic event. We get to make ripples in space-time and enjoy a small window of opportunity to experience matter’s most unique manifestation. Why trade this for death? Transform yourself, become free of attachments, and eventually let go of the biggest attachment — life itself. We are slaves to many attachments, but we can detach ourselves from them. The final attachment is a matter of choice or time. Live now, and savor every single moment, because soon it will be gone. Well, that is if we can ‘choose to do’ all of the above ;). A true nihilist understands the absurdity of existence and revels in the irony and fun of it. Will you join?
